Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital–Plymouth awarded an ‘A’ for patient safety by The Leapfrog Group
Plymouth, Mass. – For the twelfth time in a row, Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital–Plymouth (BID Plymouth) has earned an “A” grade for its continued commitment to patient safety in the Spring 2021 Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group. The ratings signify how well hospitals protect patients from preventable harm, including medical errors, injuries and infections within the hospital.
“We are proud to receive this national recognition for the twelfth time in a row,” said Kevin Coughlin, President of BID Plymouth. “This award reflects our relentless pursuit of quality in everything we do, and our hardworking clinicians and staff who are dedicated to providing the best care in the safest environment possible.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades are determined with the guidance of an expert panel using 27 measures of publicly available hospital safety data. Grades of A, B, C, D and F are assigned to more than 2,700 U.S. hospitals twice per year. The Hospital Safety Grade’s methodology is peer-reviewed and fully transparent, and the results are free to the public.
“An ‘A’ safety grade is an elite designation that your community should be proud of,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “The past year has been extraordinarily difficult for hospitals, but BID Plymouth shows us it is possible to keep a laser focus on patients and their safety, no matter what it takes.”
