Philanthropy at BID-Plymouth

Since a visionary gift was made in 1899 by Eben Jordan, Jr. to build a 14-bed cottage hospital in Plymouth, Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital – Plymouth has been deeply rooted in the community. Sustained philanthropic support over the intervening years has enabled the hospital to grow along with the surrounding community, providing access to excellent and cost-effective healthcare locally.

Awards and recognition received over the last year reflect the hospital’s continued journey to be the best provider of healthcare in the region.

  • Our Cranberry Hospice & Palliative Care program received, for the second year in a row, the Hospice Honor Award from HEALTHCAREfirst. This prestigious annual review recognizes hospices that continuously provide the highest level of quality as measured from the caregiver’s point of view, and is a reflection of the outstanding work of our talented caregivers.
  • Our Cardiology program was recently approved by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health for non-emergent cardiac catheterization/stent procedures for those suffering from serious heart disease. World renowned interventional cardiologists from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, working in Plymouth, allow us to now offer full diagnostic, emergency, and, non-emergent cardiac catheterization and stent implantation here in our own community. This is a major milestone for the hospital and the region.
  • We remain one of the best hospitals South of Boston for stroke care, as recognized with a Get with the Guidelines award from the American Heart Association and a Coverdell Award from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
  • Top Hospital designation received from the Leapfrog Group for the second year in a row
  • A Four-Star Quality Rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services
  • Our Sixth A-Rating for patient safety and quality from Leapfrog
  • A prestigious Baby-Friendly Birth Designation from Baby-Friendly USA—one of only 13 hospitals in Massachusetts

With the continued philanthropic support of our community:

  • We have started construction on the expansion of the BirthPlace and our Pharmacy. Once completed in 2019, the BirthPlace will gain an additional six patient rooms and our Pharmacy will be state-of-the art based on new federal hospital pharmacy guidelines.
  • Our behavioral health program, which offers coordinated care for those facing behavioral health and substance use disorders continues to grow.

Our deep gratitude for your support carries the assurance that every dollar raised in our community, now and in the future, will remain here for the benefit of our own families, friends and neighbors.
