Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital – Plymouth (BID – Plymouth), part of Beth Israel Lahey Health, is closely monitoring the rapidly evolving situation with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and has robust processes and protocols to ensure we can assess and care for patients and to protect other patients, staff and visitors. For the protection of our patients and dedicated staff, we are now restricting visitors.
Exceptions may be made to allow for no more than one healthy visitor at a time per patient in certain limited circumstances, such as in the event of the birth of a child, to support a patient at the end of life or to accommodate a caretaker for essential needs. Decisions regarding visitor exceptions will be made by the patient’s care team on a case-by-case basis, and any visitors will be screened for COVID-19 risk factors.
“We greatly appreciate the tremendous contributions being made by our health care workers, staff and community members during this challenging and rapidly evolving situation. These visitor restrictions will help protect our patients, their loved ones, our employees and the community as a whole,” says Donna Doherty, RN, Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer. “Each of us has a role to play during this pandemic – we must all continue to take care of each other and follow the instructions of our public health officials,” adds Doherty.
We are continually reviewing our protocols and will update them as needed. For up-to-date information, please visit bidplymouth.org and/or follow us on social media.
